More strictly known as Chapel Green. Route 50 is an old Leeds Corporation route: it received its number on 1 July 1937, being the date on which a system of numbers for the bus routes was first introduced, but a Leeds to Horsforth bus via Burley Road had operated before that. The original Leeds terminus was Eastgate, the Central Bus Station not having opened by that date. For many years the Horsforth terminus was at the top of Stanhope Drive. In the 1970s the route was extended to The Green, and buses ran through Leeds to various termini in the east of the city - at present, Seacroft.
