View SE, towards Stafford, Birmingham and London, with Down express headed by Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No. 45111 (built 6/35, withdrawn 10/67). Although the wires are up, it was many months later that regular electric services ran south of Crewe. (See also [[2163420]]).
