Though no great distance from the Broxbourne Wood East car park, the woodland here feels quite remote and neglected, with a good many fallen trees. Much of the wood is mature conifer plantation, on sloping ground either side of the Spital Brook - but I also found a few acres of coppiced hornbeams, close to this east-facing margin.
