Head of Bratta, Shetland Islands

Unnamed loch, south of Head of Bratta

Uploader's Comments

This shallow loch nestles in close-cropped turf, which is studded with wild flowers at this time of year. Noisy oystercatchers abound! The hillside to the north of the lochan contains some geologically interesting rocks: garnet-kyanite gneisses and garnet-amphibolites (the latter representing basaltic rocks metamorphosed to very high grades).
