Hazel Wood, Gloucestershire

Site of Avening III/Oldfield Wood long barrow

Uploader's Comments

The long barrow has been almost completely ploughed out, but remains as a very slight hump in the field which can be seen silhouetted against the wood and as a slight rise in the stone wall. It has been suggested that it was a chambered tomb; some stones found 50 metres to the south may be from the site (and I saw more to the north in Hazel Wood which could possibly have been removed from the site). http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=5238
