A recent looking shooting hut at the top of Gunnerside Gill can be reached by estate vehicles by coming up Hard Level Gill and across Melbecks Moor, by a track much more suitable than the bridleway above Gunnerside Gill itself. Newly dug ditches and rock debris tipped down towards the valley at a few points suggest that at least some of the work to this track has been quite recent.
