Herdship Fell (also known as Viewing Hill) occupies a large area north of Cow Green Reservoir. The summit plateau is a desolate place of eroding peat banks, bare peat and areas of shattered stone. The hills in view (to the north) are Burnhope Seat and Harwood Common.
