Bleaberry Beck crosses a band of the Ten Fathom Grit, a sedimentary sandstone bedrock formed in Carboniferous Period 322m years ago, and as it cuts through it has left a miniature gorge behind which has its own ecosystem complete with trees growing on hard to reach crags.
