Blockhouse on Foulney Island

Uploader's Comments

This dilapidated concrete structure is the only shelter on the island. There is no floor, just a carpet of pebbles, a doorway but no door. The roof is intact and consists of concrete slabs on top of reinforced concrete beams. While very basic it does give some protection from the elements while waiting for the tide to ebb, and so allow crossing over the causeway to the mainland. During spring tides the island can be cut off for over 3 hours.
