Fisher Sike, Cumbria

Cumbria/County Durham boundary

Uploader's Comments

The fence in this image marks what is now the Cumbria boundary with County Durham; originally it was the Cumberland and Yorkshire boundary. There's a remarkable sequence of boundary stones that follows the boundary; it's incomplete but as can be seen here, stone number 96 is in place if not fully erect. The fence line is rising towards the summit area of Mickle Fell which lies behind the camera position; downhill the view is across the valley of the Maize Beck to Meldon Hill beyond.
