The series of lakes and waterfalls in the park were created in the mid to late 18th century. Seen from the footpath is the top waterfall although upstream of it are two waterfall-like overflows. Heythrop Park is registered under the Historic Buildings and Ancient Monuments Act 1953 within the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens for its special historic interest.
