Eversden Wood is an ancient semi-natural coppice woodland, with coppiced stools of Ash and Field Maple, Fraxinus excelsior and Acer campestre, with Hazel, Corylus avellana, interspersed with Aspens, Populus tremula, Birches and Small-leaved Elm, Ulmus minor. The wood also forms the boundary between three parishes: Great Eversden, Wimpole and Kingston, and would have been worked by parishioners from all three, which perhaps explains the wide diversity of habitat within such a small area. The wood has been designated a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) since 1954.
