Knowle Quarry is disused; it is surrounded by the trees at the end of the field. The road junction on the A3072, about 500 metres south, is Quarry Foot Cross [[2512074]]. According to http://www.devonrigs.org.uk/DevonRIGSSiteTable.pdf , there are exposures of Permian volcanic lava in the quarry
