This image was taken in the winter of 1966 and is reproduced for posterity. Helicopters used to fly oil rig workers from here in the early days of the North Sea oil boom. It was known as Beccles Heliport. The WWII hangar they used to house the helicopters still exists and Beccles airfield currently operates from the site.
