The North Ford area between Benbecula and North Uist has large areas of sand at low tide and numerous tiny islands. Vehicle tracks are visible in the sand at this point suggesting that some locals prefer the old routes rather than the tarmac road further east. Benbecula's only hill rises in the distance.
