Grove Farm East frontage

Uploader's Comments

Grove Farm, formerly called Grove, is a moated medieval manor house. It fell into disrepair and by the 18th century was being used as a barn. In the 1960s, in order to preserve the fabric of the building (including its fine Tudor roof), the building was turned back into a house, under the supervision of the Ministry of Works. The 15th century arched doorway (shown in the photograph) was repaired with stone from the original quarry in Tisbury, Wiltshire - over 100 miles away. The window in the West frontage is also 15th century. See also [[[2075945]]] and [[[2075976]]]
