Dallican Water, Shetland Islands

Otter house, Vidlin Voe

Uploader's Comments

Otter houses were used for catching otters when they were trapped and killed for fur, and this is one of the best-preserved examples. They are only found on Mainland Shetland; elsewhere gin traps and nets were used.
