Da Sneck o da Smaalie, Shetland Islands

The floor of da Sneck o da Smaalie

Uploader's Comments

Da Sneck o da Smaalie is a vertical cleft, and it is possible to gain access to the coast by walking along its mossy floor. Daylight hardly penetrates inside the cleft and the sides drip water, creating an unusual ecosystem. The geography of the feature is best appreciated in a view from higher up the coastline where it is the nearest cleft in the cliffs in this image [[[497010]]].
