Cucknell's Wood was used as a source of wood for fencing by cutting down the trees and then harvesting the shoots as they regrew. This is 'coppicing', i.e. cultivating trees for continual cutting. This picture shows the 2016 bluebell carpet. For another view refer to picture [[4916872]].
