This tiny turning space marks the end of a track up on to Touting Hill, from the main track (and public footpath) on the east side of Cow Green reservoir. There are many old mining remains here, but nothing that looks like a destination for this track, which looks to be of relatively modern construction. The hillside looks out over what was once Teesdale above Cauldron Snout, but is now the Cow Green Reservoir - many mining relics and one substantial cave system being submerged beneath its waters, which, on this very blustery day in February, were pretty choppy. Beyond it, the hillside rising to the right is Meldon Hill, part of Dufton Fell, separated by Maize Beck from the more distant slopes of the Mickle Fell Army Training area to the left, with quite a covering of snow on its northern slopes.
