With the tide turning in half an hour, I decided to quit whilst I was ahead and not hang around for the next square to the north to surface as it was a long walk back to dry land. A local fisherman explained the fickle tides and how they turn back through North Deep to cut you off. There is an orange raft in the middle of the bank where you can sit it out until you are rescued or until the next low tide.
