This isn't just a random pub/street name, there is a bit of a Cherry Tree thing in Stoke Row. It's to do with the Maharajah's Well just along the road from here. The Maharajah of Benares paid for a well to be dug in the village and a cherry orchard was planted to provide funds from fruit sales for the continued maintenance of the well.
