This former Midland Bank designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1929 is Grade II* listed https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101219241-midland-bank-city-centre-ward The building occupies an island site around King Street, Spring Gardens, Chancery Lane and Brown Street. During the 1990s the bank was renamed HSBC Bank after HSBC acquired the Midland Bank. It closed on 6 June 2008 when HSBC relocated to St Ann's Square. After some refurbishment, an Italian restaurant run by Jamie Oliver opened [[5590752]] in part of the building at #100 King Street. The upper storeys were then still awaiting renovation. By 2015 it had been transformed into the Hotel Gotham with an entrance at #56 Spring Bank.
