All that is great and stupid about the lakes here today. Ice climbers, well equipped in the gulley. Others with no equipment whatsoever slithering around on the ice attempting to climb the face. The paths were solid ice today but I saw hardly anyone wearing crampons. I think old Wainwright's guides lull people into a false sense of security thinking the fells are like a walk in the park. Some days they are a serious proposition.
