The name of these standing stones near the eastern end of Vallay translates as the 'rock of the black women'. A local legend says that two women were caught in the act of milking cows which did not belong to them. The punishment was death and the stones were erected to warn others. More likely is that they date from the Neolithic or Bronze Age periods.
