This is a small private housing estate on the Scarborough coast called Knipe Point, it was in the news recently because of the all too obvious landslip which continues to claim buildings on a weekly basis. The cause of this land instability is open to speculation, some people blame poor drainage from the newly-built A165 up behind it, others blame the presence of the reservoir also up behind this development. The more cynical amongst us would point out that buildings built here many years ago ALSO ended up in the same predicament and that permission for this newer development should never been granted in the first place...
