A piece of keep wall and the surrounding ditch is about all that remains of this Norman Castle, which is quite a scramble to explore. An original castle was built by Ralph de Buron and it was converted into a stone castle in the 13th century. In 1514 it was granted by Henry VIII to the Duke of Norfolk as a reward for services against the Scots.
