This slightly blurred picture was taken from a field gate on Newtown Road and shows the crest of Bladon Hill where an end turret and connecting parapet wall can be seen - part of a folly built by Abraham Hoskins of Newton Solney Hall. This ostentatious construction proved to be a folly in the literal sense as the building costs spiraled out of control forcing Hoskins to put the nearby hall up for sale. The castle and adjoining dwelling is in private hands these days and despite its commanding position it's pretty much obscured from view from all sides by the surrounding woodland.
