Looking northeast about 3 minutes after leaving Bristol Airport from Runway 27. Beyond Clevedon, with the pier, are Portishead and Avonmouth. There is no river Gordano, and the name is derived from Old English meaning 'muddy valley' - much of the area is reclaimed land rarely above sea level.
