Brockhill Wood, Kent

Survivors from the Great Storm

Uploader's Comments

The Greensand Way here at Brockhill Wood follows the very edge of the Greensand Ridge with steep drops below. As such it was very exposed to the Great Storm of October 1987 and many trees were blown down here, including these beech trees where the root balls can just be seen left and right. However, the thicker trunks seen have grown upright from the fallen trees.
