Brent Reservoir, Barnet

Brent Reservoir

Uploader's Comments

Seen from Cool Oak Lane bridge, looking towards Neasden on a pleasant spring evening, the reservoir is commonly known as The Welsh Harp - reputedly a name taken from a nearby public house which has subsequently closed. The Reservoir was built in 1834/5 to provide water for the Grand Union Canal. It is fed by the River Brent and the Silk Stream. The boundary between the London Boroughs of Barnet and Brent passes through the reservoir. The reservoir is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Fuller details about the reservoir are available on Wikipedia.
