This track forms part of the Thames and Severn Way (sometimes called the Cotswold Canals Walk), which links the River Severn at Upper Framilode (SO751104) to the navigable River Thames at Lechlade (SU214995). It follows the routes of the Stroudwater Navigation and the Thames & Severn Canal as closely as possible, and passes by the source of the Thames. Using it and the Thames Path provides a walk "from sea to shining sea", or more prosaically between stretches of tidal water on opposite sides of England.
