Boddin Point Lime Kiln Erosion

Uploader's Comments

This photo shows detail of the effects of coastal erosion at Boddin Point Lime Kiln. The lime kiln has been undermined by sea caves particularly on the southern, seaward side and this has led to the partial collapse of the walls on the SSW side as shown in this photo. The sharp edges on the fallen, limestone blocks in the foreground of the photo show that the fall is recent. Water action has not yet smoothed the edges by physical processes such as attrition or by chemical processes like corrosion.
