A Site of Special Scientific Interest the owner of which probably receives various payments in the form of Stewardship payments, Lottery funding and Wildlife Trusts support in order to maintain this natural habitat. According to the information board the field is "grazed from Autumn to Spring to prevent the coarser grasses dominating which ensures suitable conditions for wild flowers to survive."
