Ben Rinnes is a largely heathery mountain yet its summit area is extensively rocky. The trig point is in a poor state with serious concrete loss about a crack which has developed at mid height; there's another crack around the pillar close to its top. At the time of the visit mist floated near to the summit sometimes engulfing it and allowing Brocken spectres to appear.
