Icehouse at Seggieden

Uploader's Comments

Icehouses such as this were filled with ice during the winter months and the ice was then used to preserve salmon in transit to southern markets during the fishings season. Seggieden is on the River Tay where ice was first used for this purpose in the late 18th century.
