We are near Llanfair-ry-bryn and by Cynghordy Hall (and station), looking across the valley of the Afon Bran to wooded hills of the Mynydd Mallein, Fwng Forest and others. Behind are the slopes of Crychan Forest and to the right we are approaching the Sugar Loaf pass. In the right distance can be seen the curved Cynghordy Viaduct carrying the ex-LNWR Central Wales line up from Llandovery and beyond to the Sugar Loaf Tunnel, Llandrindod Wells and Craven Arms.
