The former single track A851 between Broadford and Armadale has all been reconstructed in recent years, and is now a fine, modern, two lane highway. Mostly, the new road was built close to the old one, so now, the old road remains as a convenient and peaceful footpath/cyclepath. This photograph shows one of the places where the old road is crossed by the new, so gates have been erected to prevent motor vehicles gaining access. Clearly, someone thinks leaving a boulder on the road is also a good idea.
