Allt Loch an Sg, Highland

Path across the moor

Uploader's Comments

The black broken line on the OS map is the symbol for a path. In parts of Skye (and no doubt elsewhere) this description is a little Ordnance Survey joke. The line of the 'path' is faintly visible on the ground - it is the straight line from the lower left corner towards the centre of the picture. Walking on the 'path' however, requires wading through thigh high sedge and other vegetation, and rapidly results in boots full of water. The photographer's chosen route, a little way up the hillside among the heather was marginally drier, but not much easier. The trees beyond are in Kinloch Forest. The hill on the left is Beinn Bhreac, with summit in grid square [[NG7116]].
