The cottages in this photo are by the Ben Brook, and are known as Rill Cottages. Rill is also the name of a farm not far away at Shillingford, which is a bit confusing, but 'John at Ryll' is mentioned in the Churchwardens' Accounts in the early 16th century, and he would almost certainly have lived here by the Ben Brook.
