Pond Wood, East Sussex

Dog's mercury spreading in Pond Wood

Uploader's Comments

This area was open field until sometime after the 1930s. The wood is a plantation mainly of ash and the dog's mercury (Mercurialis perennis) shows a marked preference for the lower part of the slope towards the stream. There is little other ground flora in this area.
