Old railway viaduct at Lydbrook

Uploader's Comments

This is a shot of the viaduct at Lower Lydbrook in the Wye Valley, built in the late 1860s on the Ross on Wye to Monmouth line. Unlike the rest of the line, which closed in 1959, this remained open until 1965 as part of a long siding from Ross on Wye to a cable factory (now closed), the remaining buildings of which are behind me. Unlike the surviving railway viaduct at Redbrook, which featured a footpath even when the line was operational, this has been used as a footbridge (the Wye Valley Walk passes over it)only since the line closed.
