OSBM bolt on railway bridge

Uploader's Comments

This bench mark was established during the Third geodetic levelling of England & Wales (1950-1968). It was included on the Matlock to Melbourne levelling line, and measured with a height of 57.287m above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). The surveyor's description was "E wing of bridge over railway, 10' SW from fence junction, SE side of Alfreton Road." It is easy to find on top of east bridge pier, on the south-east side of this busy narrow road.
