Moor Cleugh, Carlisle

Wall and fence crossing moorland

Uploader's Comments

The nearby wall is descending from the vicinity of Hard Rigg to cross an area of moorland which is the gathering ground for the Foreshield Burn. It will be noticed that as the wall reaches the flat marshy ground ahead it is replaced by a fence, the reason being that such ground would be unable to support securely the weight of the wall's stones.
