Long Plantation (information board)

Uploader's Comments

Long Plantation was planted in the early 19th century with its western boundary following that of an open field furlong known as "Apps Wong" in the 17th century. Between 1945 and 1950, the western part of the wood was replanted with sweet chestnut, ash and sycamore whereas the eastern section was largely cleared and replanted with ash, oak, sweet chestnut, hazel, sycamore and elm in 1934/5. The wood forms part of the Burlingham Woodland Walks.
