To celebrate the launch of their new Class 88 locomotives, Direct Rail Services organised a VIP special from Euston to Carlisle on 9 May 2017. Hauled by 88002 "Prometheus" (with 68022 in the rear) and using the Northern Belle Pullman set, the return 16.40 from Carlisle speeds south at Southwaite.
