Howdale Moor, North Yorkshire

Grey Horse Stone, Stony Marl Moor

Uploader's Comments

Either a standing stone or way marker. It bears the carving 'H.D. 1902' and a well made arrow. The arrow points away from Howdale so that does not appear to be the origin of the initials. It is also called the 'Penny Stone' and in possible memory of this a 2p coin had been placed by an unknown person in one of the deep channels on an upper shoulder.
