Hambleton Down, North Yorkshire

Gallops with trig point

Uploader's Comments

The location is close to The Cleveland Way at Whitestone Cliff where, to the east there's an area of land in use as gallops for the training of racehorses. On the day of this visit the going would have been described as 'soft': no horses were seen! The trig point is known to the OS as Hambleton Down; it stands on a mound recorded on maps as a tumulus.
