A former steading (farmhouse) it was built as an inn for Alexander MacDonald VII of Glenaladale between 1752 and 1755. It was remodelled by Ross and Joass in 1861 for Angus Macdonald XII of Glenaladale. By 1971 the house was in an advanced state of disrepair. It was purchased by the MacFarlane family who converted the house into an hotel.
