View from Cissbury Ring

Uploader's Comments

This photograph was taken at quarter to seven on a beautiful summer's morning from the path around the inner wall of Cissbury Ring. The path provides fine views - the one here is towards Sompting and Lancing with the English Channel beyond. Cissbury Ring is the second largest hill fort in England and, covering some 60 acres, one of the largest in Britain and Europe. The inner wall is a mile around. The earthworks that form the fortifications were built around the beginning of the Middle Iron-Age but were abandoned in the period 50 BC - 50 AD.
